About the Role
Pertemps Telford is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter for a full-time contract role based in Telford, paying £16–£17 per hour depending on experience. Working Monday–Friday with overtime available, you will join a well-established engineering business assembling high-quality machinery. Responsibilities include mechanical assembly of components, installation of hydraulic parts and pipework, and interpreting engineering drawings along with hydraulic schematics. This position requires prior fitting experience within a manufacturing setting and the ability to read technical diagrams accurately. The role offers consistent hours and the chance to contribute to a busy production environment.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our clients well-established engineering business based in Telford. This is an excellent opportunity to work on the assembly of high-quality machinery within a busy manufacturing environment.The RoleAs a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for assembling mechanical components and machinery to a high standard while working from engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical fitting and assembly of machinery and components.
- Installation of hydraulic components and pipework.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and hydraulic schematics.
- Using a variety of engineering hand and power tools.
- Producing high-quality work within agreed production timescales.
- Reporting any material shortages or production issues.
- Maintaining a safe and organised working environment.
- Completing general workshop duties as required.
- Keeping accurate records and timesheets.
- Assisting with forklift and overhead crane operations where required.
- Supporting and mentoring apprentices when needed.
- Working in line with Health & Safety and Quality procedures.
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties required by management.
What We're Looking For
- Recognised Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship with an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) preferred.
- Alternatively, strong mechanical fitting experience within a similar engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Understanding of hydraulic schematics.
- Confident using engineering hand tools and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexible approach to overtime, including occasional weekends when required
