Mechanical Fitter
Key Responsibilities Install, assemble, maintain, and repair mechanical plant, equipment, and machinery Work from engineering drawings, technical specifications, and job instructions Carry out fault diagnosis and breakdown repairs to minimise downtime Perform routine preventative maintenance in line with schedules Fit and align pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, seals, and other mechanical components Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment safely and accurately Carry out site installation work, including on-site fitting and commissioning Complete accurate job reports, timesheets, and maintenance records Identify and report any equipment defects, hazards, or areas for improvement Work collaboratively with the wider engineering, fabrication, and project teams Adhere strictly to health and safety procedures and site-specific requirements Skills and Experience Required Time-served Mechanical Fitter or equivalent (NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds in Mechanical Engineering, or similar) Proven experience in a mechanical fitting, maintenance, or installation role within an industrial environment Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including rotating equipment, hydraulics, and pneumatics Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation Competent using precision tools and measuring equipment Good problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to fault-finding Full UK driving licence (site travel may be required) ..... full job details .....
