Mechanical Fitter Job Overview
On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for an experienced, hands-on Mechanical Fitter to join their growing operation. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a dynamic and supportive team, working on a range of specialist vehicle conversions. Full training will be provided, and our client is committed to supporting your development in the role.
As a Mechanical Fitter, you will:
- Work independently and take initiative to meet deadlines and maintain high standards.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and work orders accurately.
- Safely operate hand tools, bench saws, and measurement equipment.
- Install insulated panels onto commercial freezer vehicles.
- Electrically terminate components including lighting, switches, and tail lifts.
- Apply silicone and gel coatings to seal joints, floors, and roofs.
- Cut metals, plastics, and wood using appropriate tools.
- Maintain a high level of housekeeping across work areas, vehicles, and onsite locations.
- Support additional tasks and ad-hoc projects as directed by management.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures and quality control requirements.
- Demonstrate punctuality and professionalism in line with company expectations.
- Stay up to date with operational, regulatory, and procedural changes.
Mechanical Fitter Job Requirements
This role will suit someone who:
- Has previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter or similar hands-on engineering role.
- Understands manufacturing processes and can follow technical drawings.
- Has a strong commitment to safety and wellbeing in the workplace.
- Is reliable, respectful, and focused on delivering quality.
- Can work well both independently and as part of a team.
- Has their own transport or reliable access to the worksite
Mechanical Fitter Salary & Benefits
- Up to -15.60 per hour. Bonus opportunities available.
- 45 hours: 07:00-17:00, Monday to Thursday and 07:00-14:30 on Friday. Flexibility given and required.
