Mechanical Fitter / Fabricator | East Midlands | up to £45,000
If you''re a methodical Mechanical Fitter / Fabricator who takes pride in doing things right the first time, this role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging installations across the UK water sector.
Based in the East Midlands, you’ll join a specialist team delivering high-spec fabricated steel structures for wastewater treatment plants. This is a full-time, site-based role with regular travel across the Midlands and South of England, including overnight stays and occasional visits to Ireland. The work is varied and requires a high level of accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

As Mechanical Fitter / Fabricator, your responsibilities will include:
- Installing heavy fabricated steel structures such as scraper bridges, aerators and access steelwork on water and wastewater treatment sites
- Working with mild and stainless steel, including cutting, grinding, welding and fixing, as well as various types of pipework
- Completing repairs, upgrades and refurbishment works to existing systems, ensuring installations meet British, ISO and client standards
- Following detailed Risk Assessments, Method Statements and Safe Systems of Work Plans to maintain compliance and safety
- Producing accurate daily reports and maintaining company HSQE policies across all activities
As Mechanical Fitter / Fabricator, your experience will include:
- Minimum 2 years in a similar role within the Utilities or M&E industrial sectors
- Engineering qualification to City & Guilds, HNC or equivalent level
- Demonstrable experience in steelwork assembly, welding and site mechanical works
- Training or qualifications in welding, steel fixing or similar
- Familiarity with structural steelwork and rotating equipment installations
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide with overnight stays
