Job Title: Mechanical Assembler / Fitter

Location: Sandy, Bedfordshire
Salary: £16 per hour (dependent on experience)

Join a well-established and respected engineering manufacturing company as a Mechanical Assembler/Fitter. This hands-on role involves assembling and fitting high-quality stainless steel equipment used in the food processing industry.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Assemble and fit manufacturing components to a high standard for stainless steel food processing equipment.
• Work within a team in the production area or occasionally on client sites, adhering to all Health & Safety, production, inspection, and disciplinary standards.
• Mechanical motor fitting, stripping, and rebuilding.
• Build and assemble pneumatic air systems and bearing housings.
• Interpret and work from engineering drawings with confidence.
• Use hand tools and mechanical equipment proficiently.
• Build special purpose machinery and carry out hydraulic system assembly and maintenance.
• Maintain excellent housekeeping, motivation, and discipline in the workplace.
• Follow risk assessments, method statements, and company policies.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven mechanical assembly and fitting experience in manufacturing, ideally within special purpose machinery or food processing equipment.
• Strong understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, and motor assembly.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
• Skilled in using a variety of hand tools and mechanical instruments.
• Good team player with a commitment to health and safety standards.
• City & Guilds or equivalent engineering qualifications advantageous but not essential.

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week.
• Specific daily hours with breaks as follows:
• Monday: 7.30 am – 4.00 pm (with breaks)
• Tuesday: 7.30 am – 4.30 pm
• Wednesday & Thursday: 7.30 am – 5.00 pm
• Friday: 7.30 am – 12 noon (overtime available)
• Overtime generally available paid at 1.5x standard rate, including Saturday mornings.
