Mechanical Engineering Training Officer

Our client, a well-established training provider in the North West, is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Training Officer to support apprentices throughout their learning journey. This permanent role involves delivering high-quality teaching, assessment and mentoring, helping learners develop the technical skills, knowledge and behaviours required to complete their engineering apprenticeship and progress into employment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging engineering teaching, workshops and one-to-one support in-centre and in the workplace
• Support learners from initial assessment through to gateway and End Point Assessment (EPA)
• Plan and deliver schemes of work, lesson plans and relevant learning resources
• Assess learners'' skills, knowledge and behaviours in line with apprenticeship standards
• Mark work and provide constructive feedback to support learner improvement
• Embed and assess Functional Skills where appropriate
• Prepare learners for examinations, mock assessments and EPA
• Carry out regular learner and employer reviews, maintaining accurate training plans and learner records using OneFile

Employer and Learner Engagement:

• Liaise with employers to understand apprenticeship and training requirements
• Coordinate off-the-job training with workshop tutors
• Build strong relationships with employers and maintain engagement throughout each programme
• Provide effective Information, Advice and Guidance during and at the end of the apprenticeship

Quality, Safeguarding and Compliance:

• Deliver learner inductions covering assessment, quality assurance, EPA, equality and health and safety
• Monitor learner progress, retention and motivation, implementing appropriate interventions when required
• Work closely with the Quality team and respond effectively to IQA and Ofsted feedback
• Promote equality, diversity and inclusivity, safeguarding, Prevent, British Values, online safety and wellbeing
• Maintain continuing professional development and attend standardisation meetings

Job Requirements:

• Occupational competence in engineering at a minimum of Level 3
• Experience of supporting apprentices or learners in an engineering or training environment
• Knowledge of apprenticeship standards and Functional Skills
• Strong communication, organisation and mentoring skills
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting a safe, inclusive learning environment
• Understanding of assessment, quality assurance and learner progress monitoring
• An assessor qualification is desirable, with teaching or internal quality assurance experience advantageous
• Experience of curriculum design or Ofsted inspections would be beneficial
