Mechanical Engineer/Mechanical Fitter

Pro-Found Recruitment Solutions are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer/ Mechanical Fitter to join our client based in the DN12 area of Rotherham.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on mechanical engineer with strong fitting, installation, maintenance and fault-finding experience to join an established manufacturing business.

• Location: Denaby Main - DN12
• Salary: Negotiable
• Temporary - approx. 6 weeks
• Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm and Friday 8am to 12 noon - 40 hours per week

The Role

Working within a busy industrial manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for the mechanical fitting, installation, maintenance and repair of plant and machinery across the site.

You''ll be a practical, hands-on engineer who is confident stripping down, repairing, fitting and installing mechanical equipment and identifying faults to keep production running efficiently.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance.
• Mechanical fitting, assembly and installation of machinery and plant.
• Stripping down, repairing and rebuilding mechanical equipment.
• Mechanical fault-finding and diagnosing equipment breakdowns.
• Installing and replacing mechanical components.
• Working with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, shafts and associated mechanical equipment.
• Carrying out alignment, adjustment and installation work.
• Supporting machinery modifications and improvement projects.
• Fabrication and basic welding work where required.
• Identifying potential mechanical issues and carrying out preventative repairs.
• Working closely with production and engineering teams to minimise downtime.
• Completing maintenance records and documentation.
• Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in accordance with site procedures.

Criteria

We''re looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer/Fitter with experience working in a manufacturing, industrial or heavy engineering environment.

You''ll ideally have:

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or similar.
• Strong practical mechanical fitting and installation skills.
• Experience stripping, fitting, assembling and repairing industrial machinery.
• Good mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
• Experience working with mechanical plant and production equipment.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
• Good knowledge of mechanical components and maintenance practices.
• A practical, hands-on approach with good attention to detail.
• Strong commitment to health and safety.
• Relevant engineering qualifications would be advantageous.

Experience within refractories, steel, foundry, manufacturing, heavy engineering or other industrial environments would be particularly beneficial.
