Hiring: Mechanical Engineer | Robotics Start- Up | LA
Full-Time | Early-Stage | Equity Competitive Salary
We're a robotics startup building intelligent machines that operate in unstructured environments - and we’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer who can do more than just design brackets. This is a multidisciplinary role for someone who thrives on iteration, embraces innovation, and can think like a systems engineer while getting hands-on with hardware.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and build mechanical systems from early concept through production
- Integrate sensors, actuators, and embedded electronics into compact, rugged assemblies
- Own prototyping cycles, including 3D printing, CNC, and on-the-fly fabrication
- Lead design reviews, tolerance analysis, DFM, and vendor engagement for key subsystems
- Support motion and thermal modelling, structural simulations, and root cause analysis
- Build test jigs, help bring up robots, and contribute to field testing and reliability work
What You Bring:
- 3 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally in robotics, automation, or hardware startups
- Strong proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Onshape, Fusion 360, or similar)
- Deep familiarity with DFM/DFA, tolerance stack-ups, and fast prototyping
- Experience integrating electromechanical systems, and a working knowledge of sensors, motors, gears, or cable harnesses
- Comfort working hands-on in the lab. You'll be taking things apart, debugging, and moving quickly
- Bonus: background in motion control, mechatronics, or embedded systems
- Huge bonus: experience taking robotic systems into the field
Why This Role?
You’ll be part of a lean, technical team building real-world robots - not research demos or academic proofs of concept. Everyone here wears multiple hats, moves quickly, and cares deeply about the end product. The work is hard, the impact is real, and you'll never be bored!
