Mechanical Engineer / Fitter

Our client is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to provide technical support across production operations. The role focuses on preventative maintenance, breakdowns and repair of heavy manufacturing equipment to ensure reliability, safety and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance to minimise breakdowns and downtime
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues quickly and effectively
- Maintain machinery in good working order including mechanical and safety systems
- Support production teams with timely repairs and technical expertise
- Collaborate with electrical engineers to solve problems and improve equipment performance
- Contribute to meetings, offering ideas to enhance machine efficiency

Requirements

- Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Hands-on experience in a heavy manufacturing or industrial environment
- Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics
- Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings
- Welding experience
- Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills
