Major Projects Mechanical Engineer (Temp-to-Perm)

Our client, a Tier One contractor, is currently recruiting for a Major Projects Mechanical Engineer to join their Building Services team on a temp-to-perm basis. This role offers an immediate start, with a hybrid working arrangement and offices based in Speke.

This position will support the delivery of large, complex construction projects, ensuring mechanical designs are sustainable, compliant, and cost-effective from concept through to construction.

Key Details

• Rate: -30 - -35 per hour (CIS)
• Contract: Temp-to-perm
• Start: Immediate
• Location: Speke (hybrid / WFH available)
• Hours: 37.5 per week

The Role

As a Major Projects Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in bridging client requirements with practical engineering solutions, while leading mechanical design coordination and driving innovation across high-value projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-level technical expertise in mechanical building services engineering
• Support and contribute to project design meetings, establishing and agreeing design concepts
• Deliver fully coordinated mechanical design solutions through all project stages
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to ensure quality and consistency
• Contribute to the development of engineering standards and best practices across the wider business
• Drive innovation within M&E services, including implementation of initiatives such as BIM
• Maintain regular communication with senior stakeholders regarding progress, risks, costs, and project output
• Ensure adherence to quality procedures and document control standards

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
• Membership with Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers or Institution of Engineering and Technology
• Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
• Strong experience within mechanical building services design, particularly on large-scale projects
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a wider business audience
• Experience working with quality procedures and document control in engineering design
• Ability to pass BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) clearance
