Mechanical Engineer

Job Title:-Mechanical Engineer-

Location:Cambridge-

Shift:-Monday- Friday 40 Hours-

Duration:-18 Months-

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:-

Typical Day in the Role-

Looking for strong industry background in opto-mechanical environments and agile non-managerial profiles as the job requires individual contributions in the optomechanical design, fabrication and testing areas.

Required skills:

• Expert Solidworks including PDM
• Significant experience in the design and implementation of motion systems requiring sub micrometre accuracy and alignment
• Hands-on experience with methods of fabrication to include light machining and 3D printing
• Experience of tolerancing and specifications for production

Desirable:

• Familiarity with optical systems including free space optics, waveguide/fibre optics, monolithic optical design.
• CAM for CNC machining
• Simulation tools (preferably Ansys)

Typical Day in the Role:

Design, source, assemble and test mechanical systems required to support the project. Interactively take and develop requirements from the team to find appropriate solutions in a collaborative environment. The team is agile and priorities and tasks can change rapidly.
