Salary: Up to -40,000 (DOE)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday (Flexible start/finish times)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the iconic Liver Building. This is a static, full-time position focused on maintaining and improving complex mechanical systems within a Grade I listed property. The successful candidate will play a critical role in preserving the building''s heritage while ensuring modern operational standards.

• Maintain and repair legacy heating systems, including steam boilers and associated infrastructure

• Conduct routine and reactive maintenance on plumbing, boiler, and heating systems

• Diagnose faults and implement effective solutions with minimal disruption to building operations

• Liaise with contractors and heritage specialists to ensure compliance with listed building regulations

• Support energy efficiency initiatives while respecting the building''s historic integrity

• Maintain accurate records of work carried out and system performance

• Proven experience working with old heating systems, particularly steam boilers

• Strong background in plumbing and mechanical systems maintenance

• Familiarity with the challenges of working in listed or heritage buildings

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Relevant mechanical engineering qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent)

• Competitive salary up to -40,000 for the right candidate
