About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Mechanical Technician to join our facilities management team on a static healthcare site in Edmonton. This role is key to ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all mechanical building services within a critical healthcare environment.
You will carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, fault resolution, and blockage clearance while undertaking Authorised Person (AP) and Competent Person (CP) duties. The role also includes participating in an on-call rota (1 week in 4) and opportunities to attend training courses to further develop your skills.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across mechanical systems.

Diagnose, repair, and resolve faults on HVAC, plumbing, boilers, and associated plant.

Undertake blockage clearance and routine building services maintenance.

Deliver AP and CP duties in line with healthcare compliance requirements.

Participate in on-call rota (1 week in 4) to provide out-of-hours support.

Work collaboratively with other FM and engineering teams to ensure service continuity.

Maintain compliance with all health and safety policies, risk assessments, and statutory obligations.

Support personal development through training and competency frameworks.
Skills and Experience
Essential:

Proven experience as a Mechanical Technician or similar role within facilities management, ideally in healthcare or critical environments.

Competency in maintenance, fault finding, and repair on mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, boilers).

Demonstrable experience in AP and CP duties.

Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and safe systems of work.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Desirable:

Recognised mechanical engineering qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).

Previous experience working in healthcare or hospital facilities.

Experience with building services plant, diagnostics, and testing.

Full UK driving licence.
