Mechanical Design & Project Engineer
This is an exciting opportunity for a confident and independent Mechanical Design & Project Engineer with experience in the water and/or wastewater industry. You''ll be responsible for delivering mechanical systems from concept to commissioning, working either independently or as part of a collaborative team. This role provides the chance to take your career to the next level, with the potential to progress into a Lead Design Engineer position, where you''ll oversee designs and lead client discussions on behalf of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be involved in a diverse range of projects, progressing through various stages from concept design to final handover. Your daily responsibilities will include:
·Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, company procedures, and client asset standards.
·Collaborating with engineers across different disciplines to drive projects forward.
·Taking charge of equipment selection and leading discussions with the supply chain.
·Preparing hydraulic calculations for both gravity and pumped systems.
·Developing detailed equipment schedules.
·Contributing to design studies such as HAZOP, HAZCON, and HAZCOMM to ensure safety and efficiency.
·Working with the CAD team to create detailed design drawings and models.
·Reviewing internal and external documentation to ensure it meets project scope and objectives.
·Supporting the project team during the construction and commissioning phases, with site visits and virtual meetings (via Microsoft Teams).
Essential Requirements:
·HNC or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
·Experience in mechanical design or project delivery within the water/wastewater industry.
·Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective interaction with internal teams, clients, and suppliers.
·The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
·The right to work in the UK and a full UK driver''s licence.
Location:
This role is based in Marylebone, London, with travel required to project sites across the wider Thames Water area as needed.
