Mechanical Design Engineer - Sheffield
Based at our Sheffield office, we are currently looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our talented team to work on complex and interesting projects.

What you''ll do
You will be working alongside other engineers and designers as an integral part of the team solving a wide variety of engineering problems. Typical tasks could include:
- Developing concepts into detailed designs;
- Using engineering fundamentals to check that designs work;
- Carrying out detailed finite element analysis to optimise designs;
- Producing 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings using Solidworks to enable the design to be made.
Our projects come in a variety of shapes and sizes, giving our team the opportunity to rapidly gain broad experience and skills.
What you''ll need
An ideal candidate would:
- Have enthusiasm for solving engineering problems, and the drive to learn and take ownership of your own development;
- Solid technical grasp of the fundamentals of engineering;
- Previous experience in a similar role, note this role is not suitable for a recent graduate;
- Have an engineering degree or equivalent qualification;
- Be able to apply the first-principles engineering to new problems;
- Have the ability to work and communicate effectively with other people; * The ability to self-organise and prioritise your workload;
- Experience of using 3D CAD software.

Our selection process
We take a hands-on approach to recruitment, and do not use AI to review candidates. Following receipt of your application, shortlisted candidates will be invited to a screening call. Successful candidates will then be invited to an in-person interview, providing an opportunity for us to explore your experience and technical capabilities in more detail, and for you to find out more about Eadon Consulting, our projects and our culture. We aim to make our recruitment process informative, transparent and engaging for all candidates.
In-person interviews are scheduled to take place during the following weeks:
- Week commencing the 3rd of August
- Week commencing the 10th of August
