Mechanical Design Engineer

Mechanical Design Engineer: We are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer on behalf of a growing engineering and technology business based in Leeds. Working as part of an established R&D team, you will be involved in the development of innovative products from concept generation through to manufacture. This is primarily an office-based role with occasional travel as projects require.

The successful Mechanical Design Engineer will take ownership of the design of components, enclosures, and assemblies used within technically challenging applications. Experience designing sheet metal fabrications, plastic mouldings, mechanical housings, or products containing electronic components would be particularly beneficial. Mechanical Design Engineer - Role & Responsibilities – CAD / Mechanical / R&D

• Create detailed component and assembly designs using 2D and 3D CAD.
• Produce engineering drawings, BOMs, and assembly documentation.
• Support prototype builds, testing, and product validation activities.
• Assist with the development of technical literature and training materials.
• Provide technical support to the sales team on bespoke customer requirements.
• Work closely with manufacturing and other engineering disciplines throughout the product lifecycle.

Mechanical Design Engineer - Candidate Profile - CAD / Mechanical / R&D

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience using 2D and 3D CAD packages such as Inventor, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, AutoCAD, or similar.
• Understanding of modern manufacturing methods, materials, and design for manufacture principles.
• Experience designing mechanical assemblies, enclosures, housings, or fabricated components would be advantageous.
