Mechanical Design Engineer
Your Role: As a Mechanical Engineer, you will help deliver robust designs and work packages using CATIA and NX CAD software to high tolerances for use in the aerospace industry. You will be responsible for developing innovative mechanical design solutions and through-life improvements and modifications on existing smart motor and power generation technologies.
Key Responsibilities

• 
  Create and support robust mechanical design solutions for R&D/R&T projects, ensuring designs are technically robust, fit for purpose, and meet business and customer needs.

• 
  Deliver engineering solutions that meet Design to Cost and Design to Manufacture/Assembly requirements.

• 
  Produce and maintain CAD models, drawings and parts lists compliant with company standards.

• 
  Act as the focal point for engineering investigation support across Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Programmes, Supply Chain, Customer Support and Quality.

• 
  Mechanical design of in-service product alterations and tooling, including supporting documentation.

• 
  Review and approve design activities completed by yourself and other engineers.

• 
  Produce Design Assurance documentation including design reports, test procedures, stress calculations, tolerance analyses and related engineering reports.

• 
  Provide guidance and oversight to junior engineers within the team.

Skills & Experience

• 
  Mechanical, Automotive or Aeronautical Engineering degree, or equivalent practical experience.

• 
  Strong understanding of engineering materials and associated production methods.

• 
  Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering teams.

• 
  Experience delivering work packages and supporting or supervising engineers is desirable.

• 
  Experience with rotating equipment such as shafts, bearings, motors, generators or similar electrical machines is desirable.

• 
  Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems is desirable.
