Produce detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks. Design components and assemblies including sheet metal, machined, turned, cast and fabricated parts. Apply sound mechanical and automotive engineering principles to develop practical, manufacturable designs. Consider manufacturing, assembly and through-life support within designs. Revise and improve existing designs to meet new requirements. Maintain accurate design records, drawing revisions and PDM controls. Work closely with Senior Engineers, Project Engineers and wider teams to deliver design solutions. Liaise with suppliers to source components and support manufacturing requirements. Assess prototypes for fit, function and performance. Select appropriate materials for component requirements. Carry out first-principles calculations and provide input into FEA/CAE assessments.
