About the Role
The Mechanical Design Engineer in Barrow-in-Furness will design high-reliability subsea connectors for harsh environments. This contract role, offering £40-45k per annum, involves developing low and high voltage connector systems, pressure housings, and sealing solutions. Responsibilities include CAD-based design, material selection for HPHT conditions, FEA validation, prototype testing, and producing engineering documentation. You will collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and project teams on standard and customer-specific projects. A degree in Mechanical Engineering and three years’ experience in subsea or high-reliability mechanical systems are essential. Strong CAD proficiency and knowledge of subsea materials are also required.

You will work on low and high voltage connector systems, pressure housings, and sealing solutions used in offshore and subsea applications.
The role involves CAD-based design, material selection for HPHT and subsea environments, FEA validation, prototype and pressure testing, and producing detailed engineering documentation. You£££ll collaborate closely with RandD, manufacturing, quality, and project teams, contributing to both standard product development and customer-specific projects.
Key requirements
Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar)
Three years experience in subsea or high-reliability mechanical systems
Strong CAD and FEA skills
Knowledge of sealing technologies, pressure-rated designs, and subsea materials
Familiarity with industry standards (API, ISO, IEC, IEEE)
