Mechanical Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing engineering environment where the role offers considerably more variety than a traditional CAD-based position.This is an ideal opportunity for a practical, technically minded engineer who enjoys taking designs from initial concept through to manufacture and is equally comfortable working at a desk or getting involved directly with production and engineering activities.The position will involve a mixture of mechanical design, manufacturing support, process improvement, tooling and customer interaction. You will have the opportunity to work on varied engineering projects and play an important role in developing new and improved products and manufacturing methods.The RoleYou will be involved in:Developing mechanical designs from initial concepts through to completed engineering solutionsProducing and reviewing 3D CAD models and detailed 2D engineering drawingsCarrying out drawing checks and ensuring designs are suitable for manufactureApplying appropriate dimensioning and tolerancing principlesDesigning jigs, fixtures and bespoke tooling to support manufacturing activitiesCreating manufacturing documentation, work instructions and controlled proceduresIdentifying opportunities to improve manufacturing methods, efficiency and qualityWorking closely with production and other engineering functions to resolve technical issuesSupporting prototype and development activitiesProviding ..... full job details .....
