Mechanical Design EngineerWool, Dorset (On-Site)Competitive Salary A specialist maritime and defence engineering organisation is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established team delivering complex equipment to support the Royal Navy. This is an opportunity to work across the full design lifecycle, taking concepts through to verification, testing and acceptance while contributing to technically challenging projects. You Will Be:Designing mechanical components and assemblies to meet functional and performance requirementsProducing engineering drawings, calculations and design documentation Undertaking structural assessments and providing justification for design decisions through hand calculations and computational methodsSupporting testing, trials and acceptance activities to ensure designs meet requirementsPresenting designs to internal stakeholders and recommending improvementsDelivering work in line with agreed quality, cost and timescale expectations Requirements:HNC, HND or Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related disciplineMechanical design experience within a complex and regulated engineering environmentProficiency using 3D CAD, Solid Edge would be preferredWorking knowledge of FEA, including stress and shock analysisProducing engineering drawings to recognised standardsEffective communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem solvingExperience designing equipment for marine environments would be advantageous ..... full job details .....
