Mechanical Design Engineer

My client is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their current Design Team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of engineering principles and be able to create designs that are innovative, robust and cost-effective to manufacture. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing mechanical components, assemblies and systems, and collaborating with other departments to ensure the successful completion of each project.

Responsibilities:

• Create 3D models and 2D technical drawings of mechanical components and assemblies
• Communicate frequently & effectively with other departments & customers
• Analyse designs to ensure the optimal engineering solution is achieved
• Analyse designs to ensure manufacturability, cost & performance
• Develop prototypes and support testing of designs for functionality and reliability
• Research new technologies and materials to improve designs
• Produce supporting documentation, including buyoff proposals, design risk assessments & equipment manuals

Required Experience:

• Previous experience in a special purpose machinery design role (experience with lifting equipment, along with pneumatic and electrical circuits & systems is of benefit)
• Experience working in a 3D CAD environment (SolidWorks preferred)
• Experience using full Microsoft Office suite
• Excellent communication skills both in team settings & customer facing
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Highly driven & self-motivated personality
• Appreciation for the requirements of electrical and pneumatic control systems within the mechanical design.
