Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Derbyshire or Melton Mowbray
Rate: £45 p/h (Ltd – Outside IR35)
Contract: 6 months (likely extension)
Working Pattern: 4 days onsite, Fridays WFH

Our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the full design lifecycle, from concept through to delivery, on high-impact engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop mechanical designs using Inventor
• Perform calculations for structural load, airflow, and environmental forces
• Drive design improvements for cost, weight, and manufacturability
• Support and lead technical reviews with cross-functional teams

Requirements:

• Strong background in mechanical/structural engineering and fabrication
• Proficient in Mathcad, Excel, and hand calculations
• Experience with Inventor or similar (e.g. SolidWorks)
• Knowledge of acoustics, thermal, and airflow systems
• Engineering qualification
