Reports To: Estates & Facilities Manager
Salary: -55k per annum & vehicle/car allowance, 33 days holiday plus package and overtime.

About the Role
My client are seeking an experienced and proactive Mechanical & Heating Engineer to join their Estates & Facilities team. Based in the hospital''s plant room, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all heating and mechanical systems critical to patient care and hospital operations.
Key Responsibilities
Operate, maintain, and repair commercial heating, ventilation, and hot water systems within the hospital plant room.
Carry out routine servicing, fault diagnosis, and planned preventative maintenance on steam systems , pumps, pressurisation units, and associated mechanical equipment.
Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital services.
Ensure all works are carried out in line with statutory compliance, health & safety regulations, and hospital policies.
Support energy efficiency initiatives and identify opportunities for performance improvements within the plant.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and assist with audits, inspections, and compliance reporting.
Collaborate closely with other estates staff, contractors, and clinical teams to support the safe running of the hospital.
Qualifications & Experience
Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Heating & Ventilation, or a related discipline
Proven experience maintaining and repairing commercial heating systems, ideally within a healthcare or similar critical environment.
Strong understanding of health & safety legislation, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
Good problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
Excellent communication and team working skills.
