About the Role

A Maths Academic Coach is sought for a school in the Selly Oak ward of Birmingham. This full-time, temporary position offers a daily rate of £85 to £100 and begins immediately, running until July 2027. Working within the mathematics department, the successful candidate will deliver tailored support to Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils through small group interventions and one-to-one sessions. Responsibilities include assisting with lesson delivery, preparing students for examinations, and helping to raise attainment. The Role:
As a Maths Academic Coach, you’ll work alongside the maths department to provide tailored academic support to students in Key Stage 3 and 4. You’ll lead small group interventions, provide one-to-one support for pupils who need extra help, and assist with lesson delivery and exam preparation. Your input will help students build confidence and improve their understanding of key mathematical concepts.
 
The Candidate:
You should hold a degree in mathematics or a related subject. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain ideas clearly are essential. You’ll need to be confident working with young people and committed to supporting their academic development. Any experience in tutoring, mentoring, or working with pupils will be an advantage.
 
Requirements

  • Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – A genuine interest in helping students succeed and progressing into teaching.
  • Experience working with children – Any relevant experience such as tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
