Materials and Maintenance Planning Manager

RMS are working with an outstanding automotive client, we are looking for an experienced and qualified Materials and Maintenance Planning Manager to join the team. Our client is well-known for providing vehicle storage, inspection, maintenance, dispatch and transportation facilities.

This new exciting role is working with the Technical Services Manager to ensure the rail fleet is maintained safely and in compliance with maintenance plans, UK legislation, and industry standards. The role oversees maintenance carried out by in-house technicians and third-party workshops, ensuring all work is accurately recorded in the CMMS (2020M) to maintain compliance, traceability, and fleet reliability.

Responsibilities:

Materials

• Manage UK wheelset stock, maintaining accurate records

• Produce weekly wheelset stock reports 

• Visit repair sites as to verify stock records and carry out audits

• Analyse maintenance data to forecasts

• Develop and maintain maintenance planning reports

• Attend weekly maintenance planning meetings

• Monitor Out of Service reports, providing regular status updates

• Chase progress on repairs and resolve issues 

• Share weekly maintenance plans and progress updates with Technical Department

Maintenance

• Review maintenance reports and provide updates

• Check maintenance data and resolve any errors or missing information 

• Maintain maintenance records up to date in CRM

• Prepare weekly staff planning reports

• Support administration tasks, including payroll and POs

• Assist with refurbishment and maintenance projects

• Help prepare KPI reports, environmental returns, and audit documentation

• Support fleet improvement and digitalisation projects

Requirements 

Experience & Skills

• Education to A level or equivalent

• Project management skills

• Mechanical engineering background or interest

• Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office software

• Some experience at a supervisory level is essential

Interpersonal skills

• Ambition and confidence to grow with the company

• Willingness to travel within the UK as required by the role

• Full clean driving license

• Organised analytical self-starter

• Confident and proficient with IT software
