Material Manager
Your new company
A well-established manufacturing business is seeking a Procurement Officer to join its supply chain team. Operating within a fast-paced production environment, the business manufactures high-volume products and relies on effective material planning and supplier coordination to ensure uninterrupted production. Working closely with Production Planning, Procurement, Master Data and Warehouse teams, you''ll play a key role in ensuring materials are available at the right time, in the right quantities and at the right cost.
Your new role
As Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day flow of materials into the factory, ensuring production schedules are fully supported through effective supplier and inventory management. Using SAP and MRP planning tools, you will monitor material requirements, raise call-off orders against supplier agreements and maintain sufficient stock levels to support production demand.
You will work closely with suppliers to coordinate deliveries, investigate shortages and delays, resolve invoice or quantity discrepancies and ensure accurate supplier information is maintained within the system. The role will also involve proactively managing supply risks, escalating issues where necessary and communicating effectively with internal stakeholders across Production, Planning and Warehouse teams.
In addition, you will support inventory optimisation by balancing material availability against warehouse capacity, whilst driving improved use of SAP reporting and reducing reliance on manual spreadsheet processes.
What you''ll need to succeed
- Previous experience in Procurement, Material Planning, Supply Planning, Production Planning Support or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Strong supplier management and supplier coordination experience.
- Experience using SAP, MRP or a comparable ERP system.
- Understanding of inventory management, material planning and supply chain processes.
- Ability to investigate and resolve supplier, delivery and stock-related issues.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience within FMCG, manufacturing, engineering or production-led businesses would be advantageous.
