About the Role
Pertemps Southampton is seeking an experienced Marine Mechanic / Engineer to join a leading marine engineering business in East Cowes, Isle of Wight. This full-time, temporary position offers £15.50 to £17.50 per hour, with hours from Monday to Thursday totalling 37.5 per week. The role involves diagnosing mechanical and engineering faults on vessels and marine equipment, performing servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance, as well as installation and removal tasks. Candidates should possess strong fault-finding skills and a hands-on approach to mechanical repairs. The Role
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Diagnosing mechanical and engineering faults on marine equipment and vessels.
- Carrying out servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Installing, removing and overhauling marine engines and associated systems.
- Working on propulsion systems, steering, fuel, hydraulic and cooling systems.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical manuals.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and to the highest quality standards.
- Working collaboratively within a professional engineering team.
We're looking for candidates who have:
- Previous experience as a Marine Mechanic, Marine Engineer or Mechanical Technician.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Experience maintaining diesel engines, mechanical systems or marine equipment.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to health and safety.
