Manufacturing/Engineering Maintenance Engineer

Role Purpose

The Manufacturing/Engineering Maintenance Engineer which a hands on role, is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of all plant, equipment, and facilities. The role leads the maintenance function to maximise asset availability, reduce unplanned downtime, and support production through a proactive, reliability-led maintenance strategy.

Key Responsibilities

1. Health, Safety & Compliance

• Lead and enforce a strong safety-first culture across all maintenance activities
• Ensure all work complies with H&S legislation, company standards, and safe systems of work
• Own risk assessments, permits, lockout/tagout, and contractor safety
• Investigate incidents and near misses related to maintenance, ensuring corrective actions are implemented
• PPE, Dress code in line with company standards.

2. Asset Reliability & Uptime

• Ensure high levels of equipment availability and reliability
• Reduce unplanned downtime through effective fault analysis and prevention
• Maintain accurate asset histories and failure data

3. Maintenance Strategy & Planning

• Develop and deploy a planned and preventive maintenance strategy
• Balance reactive, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities
• Ensure effective maintenance planning, scheduling, and backlog control

4. Contractor & Supplier Management

• Manage external contractors and service providers
• Ensure contractors meet safety, quality, and performance expectations
• Control contractor costs and effectiveness
• Build effective relationships with key suppliers
