Manufacturing Planner
Manufacturing Planner (Aviation Modifications)
Location: Birmingham, UK (Onsite)
Position Type: 6-12 Month Contract
Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday
Hours: Alternating Early (06:30 - 16:30) and Late (16:00 - 02:00) shifts
About the Role
Are you a practical, hands-on aviation professional who knows their way around an aircraft shop floor? We are seeking a Manufacturing Planner to join a major aircraft modification program in Birmingham.
Unlike rigid, academic design engineering roles, this position bridges the gap between engineering theory and shop floor reality. You will be responsible for reviewing engineering modifications, optimizing technical documentation, and authoring the clear, step-by-step work instructions that keep our production technicians moving safely and efficiently.
If you thrive in dynamic environments where technical baselines evolve and no two days look the same, this is the contract for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimize Technical Workflows: Update and author detailed, technical work instructions utilizing existing technical writing and documentation arrays.
- Analyze Technical Data: Review original equipment manufacturer (OEM) packages, engineering drawings, and design organization outputs to ensure accuracy before tasks are pushed to the floor.
- Shop Floor Troubleshooting: Act as the direct point of contact for the modification team-resolving documentation queries and rapidly revising active work instructions when errors or ambiguities are flagged.
- Maintain Production Clarity: Use released engineering parameters to build and optimize detailed work orders, helping the team maintain absolute compliance and schedule tracking.
What We Are Looking For
- Shop Floor Expertise: Strong, practical aircraft shop floor experience is highly valued for this role over formal university degrees.
- Technical Blueprint Literacy: A proven ability to confidently interpret engineering drawings, OEM data packs, and authorized technical publications.
- Aviation Background: Prior experience supporting heavy aircraft scheduled maintenance, repair, or complex modification profiles.
- Tool Knowledge: Familiarity with aviation engineering resource planning software and documentation tracking systems.
Why Apply?
- Unbeatable Work-Life Balance: Say goodbye to Friday traffic. This contract operates on a Monday to Thursday schedule, locking in a standard 3-day weekend every single week.
- Strong Shift Premiums: Boost your earnings with an extra 20% shift allowance whenever you work the late shift rotation.
- Competitive Contracting Rates: The client is explicitly prioritizing premium candidate experience and is targeting the top end of their budget to secure the right talent.
Note: Due to the nature of this project, candidates must hold or be eligible to achieve active UK SC Security Clearance prior to their start date.
