Manufacturing Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Manager to lead a multi-functional production team delivering composite and metallic assemblies to agreed cost, quality and schedule targets.
The successful candidate will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement, Design and Operations teams to ensure manufacturing deliverables are integrated effectively into the final product.
This is a key role within a growing manufacturing environment, with responsibility for developing the manufacturing function, improving processes and supporting continued business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Manufacturing function, including a direct workforce of up to 100 employees as the business grows.
Develop and deliver manufacturing and industrialisation strategies.
Manage day-to-day production resources, work planning and team allocation.
Ensure production targets are achieved across health & safety, cost, quality and schedule.
Work closely with supporting departments to ensure successful delivery of manufacturing requirements.
Develop and maintain a strong Health & Safety culture across the manufacturing environment.
Manage the performance and development of Operational Leads and Team Leaders.
Lead production meetings, visual management and other daily governance activities.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and 5S methodologies.
Support recruitment and workforce planning for the manufacturing team.
Identify and resolve production issues quickly and effectively.
Ensure a high standard of housekeeping and organisation across the factory.
Carry out other management responsibilities as required.
Person Specification
Experience & Qualifications
Degree or equivalent experience in a relevant manufacturing, engineering or technical discipline.
Proven experience managing teams within a manufacturing or assembly environment.
Strong experience in people management and leadership.
Experience working within a growth, start-up, transformation or new product introduction environment.
Proven experience implementing continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing practices.
Strong understanding of Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment.
Experience working within low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing environments is desirable.
Experience within composites manufacturing and assembly is desirable.
Experience of New Product Introduction (NPI) is desirable.
