Manager - Building Surveying

This is a senior management role leading the delivery of housing maintenance, planned works and capital investment programmes, ensuring residential properties remain safe, compliant and well maintained. You will manage surveying teams, oversee major projects and budgets, and play a key role in shaping asset management and property investment strategies.

Description

• Lead and manage a team of building surveyors and technical officers.
• Deliver responsive repairs, planned maintenance and major capital investment programmes across the housing portfolio.
• Manage complex construction and refurbishment projects from feasibility through to completion.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, CDM regulations, gas, electrical and building legislation.
• Lead procurement exercises, prepare specifications and manage contractor performance.
• Handle high-level complaints, disputes and service improvements while driving customer-focused outcomes.
• Contribute to housing strategy, policy development and reporting to senior management and elected members.

Profile

A successful Building Surveying Manager should have:

• Degree-qualified in Building Surveying, Building Services or a related discipline with extensive post-qualification experience.
• Strong background in housing maintenance, capital works and project management.
• Experienced people manager with strong stakeholder engagement and contractor management skills.
• Good understanding of housing compliance, health & safety and building contracts.
• Local authority or social housing experience.

Job Offer

• Salary ranging from -48,738 to -50,908, dependent on the level of experience.
