Management Taxes and Transactions Senior Tax Manager

Overview

The Private Tax team at EY acts for a wide range of entrepreneurial, owner managed, PE backed and AIM listed businesses together with their shareholders and management teams, in addition to family offices, private equity and hedge fund principals, large-landed estates and high-profile professional partnerships. We aim to be trusted advisers to our clients and deliver a broad range of tax advisory services, including cash tax savings and value creation, reorganisations, international tax advisory, transactions and ongoing maintenance of the tax structure of our clients. The team provides corporate and personal tax services to these businesses, their owners and management. The services include advice to private equity houses and sponsors and their investee companies on the structuring of management incentive plans, advice to management teams themselves, advice to owner managers and founders on transactions, due diligence on employee share ownership and option plans, and the structuring and reporting of management incentive plans. Our client base includes private equity and other funds, private companies and individuals. Our international network supports a high proportion of cross-border tax work. This is an exciting opportunity to join EY''s specialist Management Taxes and Transactions team based in London, Manchester, Glasgow or Edinburgh. The successful candidate will have opportunities to work with existing clients and intermediaries, build and expand their network, and contribute to winning new business. Candidates should have knowledge and a proven track record advising on issues impacting management teams, including strong knowledge of the employment related securities regime and capital gains tax and income tax issues relevant to individuals undertaking transactions.Responsibilities

Build and maintain relationships with clientsProactive business development to win new workManage the delivery of technically complex and demanding consulting projects, ensuring technical excellence and a practical, business-driven approachProvide development support to junior team members through supervision, coaching and mentoringContribute to people initiatives, including retaining and training our teamBe client-driven, strategically and commercially awareDemonstrate strong tax technical skills in the management taxes areaDevelop strong client relationship management and produce quality client outputsApply negotiation skills, sustain opinions, and handle challengesDevelop business opportunities and convert them into workManage time effectively and remain composed under deadlinesCommunicate clearly in writing and verballyAdvise a range of individuals and/or companies (including AIM listed, PE backed, family-owned and OMB) and implement management incentive plans or share option plansQualifications

To qualify for the role you must have: ACA / CTA / Tax Inspectors with full Technical Training course / Law qualification / Tax specialist qualification or equivalent breadth of knowledgeStrong tax technical skillsProven track record in the management taxes areaBusiness development skills to identify and convert opportunities to sell workExperience coaching and developing more junior staffDesirable
