OverviewAs the Defence integrator, Strategic Command (UKStratCom) sits at the heart of Defence, giving us the winning edge in an ever-uncertain and competitive world. Every single operation relies on the connectivity and skills we offer the whole of the Armed Forces. The UKStratCom Finance Function supports multiple Service Directorates - the Headquarters; Defence Medical Services; Defence Intelligence; Defence Digital; Special Forces; National Cyber Force; Directorate of Overseas Bases; Defence Support; and Permanent Joint Headquarters. Following implementation of Finance Transformation (FinTx) in January 2025, the function is now made up of over 180 finance personnel across Finance Operations, Specialist Services, Finance Business Partnering Teams and Finance Military Operations.

Responsibilities
Management Reporting (Consolidation) team responsibilities include producing monthly financial reports to meet business area and Finance Business Partner needs, ensuring accurate reporting within corporate systems and input of accounting entries to support decision making.
Provide insight to the Business, Finance Leadership Team, and wider Finance teams; summarise activities and deliver higher level insight to aid decision making.
Produce consolidated financial position at various levels within the organisation; draft commentary from FPB reviews subject to endorsement.
Produce standardised reports/dashboards for monthly financial reviews and ABC screenings, with supplementary information for FPB and FLT.
Enable self-service capabilities where possible and support flexibility across business areas as required.
Deliver instructions for IYM and ABC completion with internal timelines; ensure outputs are accurate, timely and meet standards for month-end and policy compliance.
Input budget profiles into corporate systems; ensure robustness to form the baseline for progress measurement; ensure consistent input for ABC and IYM.
Produce and maintain standardised templates for recurring requests; ensure alignment with policy where applicable.
Approve low-value items (working functions, training, subscriptions) in line with processes and policies; ensure proper procurement routes.
Engage with the Business where evidence for manual accruals is insufficient; flag issues by exception to the Finance Business Partner.
Correct misbookings at source; work with Project and Commercial staff to resolve issues and achieve right-first-time input.
Establish and maintain controls to ensure data accuracy in financial systems and provide assurance on data integrity.
Review Chart of Accounts; coordinate with Finance to understand emerging requirements and keep structure current and consistent.
Manage team access to corporate systems for Finance staff.

Share best practices and refine standardised processes and procedures.
Seek feedback and continuously improve service provision; address key issues promptly and inform customers of impacts.
Manage issues raised during internal or external audits and coordinate corrective action.

Person specificationEssential
Excellent leader and manager who empowers their team and leads through change, process re-engineering, automation, training and tooling across Finance and Service Directorates.
Significant experience in a Finance environment with the ability to understand and interpret complex business and financial requirements and management information.
Strong communicator able to engage with stakeholders from finance and non-finance functions.
Desirable
Level 4 qualification with AAT, CCAB or CIMA, or working towards CCAB/CIMA or equivalent and broad financial experience.
Understanding of MOD/Strategy Command operations and its delegated model.
Experience of Agile Delivery and Scrum.
Ability to balance competing priorities with good judgement and initiative; capable of coordinating the team accordingly.
Self-starter able to work independently from high-level strategic direction.
Strong written and oral briefing skills.
