Looking for a role where your financial expertise can help shape the future of communities and infrastructure?
We''re recruiting on behalf of a respected public sector organisation that plays a key role in supporting strategic investment and long-term economic growth across the North of England.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part-qualified Management Accountant to join a collaborative finance team at the heart of an organisation delivering meaningful change. You''ll be a trusted financial partner, providing high-quality management accounting, budgeting and reporting support while helping to drive continuous improvement across financial systems and processes.
If you''re looking for a varied role where you can influence decision-making, build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute to important public sector initiatives, this could be the role for you. This role would suit someone who loves to be in the detail and is confident to make changes and decisions based on the data.
As Management Accountant, you''ll work closely with a small team of senior leaders and operational support to provide insightful financial information that supports effective decision-making.
You''ll be involved in a broad range of activities including:
- Producing monthly management accounts, financial reports and budget monitoring information.
- Supporting forecasting, budgeting and financial planning processes.
- Providing financial analysis and business partnering support across departments.
- Monitoring financial performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Overseeing transactional finance activities including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and reconciliations.
- Supporting cashflow management and treasury activities.
- Assisting with year-end processes, external audits and statutory reporting.
- Contributing to the development and improvement of finance systems, controls and reporting processes.
- Working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation on various business improvement projects.
We''re keen to hear from candidates who can bring both technical expertise and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
You''ll ideally have:
- A recognised accounting qualification (CIPFA, CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or be actively studying towards qualification.
- Strong management accounting experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Excel and financial systems knowledge.
- Experience producing meaningful financial reports and insights for stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to build effective working relationships across an organisation.
Public sector experience would be advantageous but is by no means essential. However experience of working with SME''s is highly preferred.
We welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience gained in commercial, not-for-profit or other complex organisational environments.
Alongside a competitive salary, you''ll benefit from an excellent benefits package including:
- 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Local Government Pension Scheme
- Flexible working arrangements.
- Flexi-time scheme with the opportunity to accrue up to 18 additional days leave per year.
- Salary sacrifice benefits, including travel-related schemes.
Our client is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and supported. Applications are welcomed from all suitably qualified candidates regardless of age, disability, gender identity, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or background.
They are particularly keen to encourage applications from groups currently underrepresented within the organisation and are committed to ensuring a fair and accessible recruitment process.
If you''re an experienced Management Accountant looking for a rewarding role where your work will genuinely make a difference, we''d love to hear from you.
