Company Overview
A growing M&E sub-contractor in the Derbyshire region are actively seeking an M&E Project Manager who has potential to grow into a shareholder Director level role in the next 3 -5 years!
The business has successfully been operating at a turnover circa -10 - -15 million for the past 5 years and in recent times they are growing as a business and with the active owners/ Directors of the business looking to find the next individual who could represent the business, they are seeking a career motivated, client facing and forward-thinking individual who would join as an M&E Project Manager.
This business is a great firm to work for due to their strong relationships with clients in the region having won repeat business since the business started.
The ideal candidate will have come from another tier 2/3 sub-contractors in the region from either a mechanical or electrical bias. With projects ranging from Milton Keynes to Manchester, the majority of their work is in Derby, with the role being based from their head office in Derby with site visits once a week.
Key Duties & responsibilities
- Lead the successful delivery of M&E projects valued between -500k - -2m, from pre-construction through to handover.
- Oversee design reviews, technical submissions, procurement, and value engineering to ensure projects are compliant and cost-effective.
- Manage site activities including subcontractor coordination, programme monitoring, quality assurance, and health & safety compliance.
- Take ownership of project finances: assist with procurement, track variations, monitor cash flow, and work closely with the commercial team to protect margins.
- Build and maintain excellent client and consultant relationships, ensuring repeat business and positive handovers.
- Act as the main point of contact for stakeholders, chairing meetings and providing regular progress updates.
- Coordinate testing, commissioning, and O&M handover documentation.
- Drive high standards of delivery in line with company culture, while mentoring junior staff where needed.
- Demonstrate commercial awareness and technical expertise to balance programme, quality, and cost.
- Embrace progression opportunities, with the potential to develop into a shareholding Director role within 3-5 years.
