M&E Compliance Manager

A local authority is seeking an experienced M&E Compliance Manager to lead the delivery and assurance of statutory compliance across a diverse residential property portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in driving resident safety, regulatory compliance, and service excellence within a highly visible programme.
Your new role
Reporting to the Head of Compliance, you will be responsible for the operational management and assurance of mechanical and electrical compliance programmes. You will ensure statutory and regulatory obligations are met, whilst driving continuous improvement in compliance delivery, contractor performance, and resident safety outcomes.Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading the delivery of M&E compliance programmes across the housing portfolio.
- Managing compliance areas including electrical safety, fire safety systems, lifts, water hygiene, gas interfaces, emergency lighting and related building safety disciplines.
- Ensuring full compliance with all relevant legislation, regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Monitoring contractor performance through KPIs, SLAs and robust contract management practices.
- Providing assurance on compliance data, certification and reporting.
- Managing audits, inspections and compliance reviews, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Supporting the production of compliance reports for senior leadership and governance boards.
- Working closely with residents, operational teams and external contractors to maintain high levels of service delivery.
- Supporting risk management processes and ensuring compliance risks are identified and mitigated effectively.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives across compliance operations and asset management functions.
What you''ll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Significant experience managing M&E compliance within a social housing, local authority or large property environment.
- Strong understanding of statutory compliance and building safety requirements.
- Experience overseeing contractor performance and large-scale compliance programmes.
- Knowledge of key compliance disciplines including electrical safety, fire systems, water hygiene and lifts.
- Experience using compliance management systems and maintaining accurate compliance records.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The ability to analyse compliance data and provide assurance to senior stakeholders.
- Relevant professional qualifications within building services, engineering, compliance or property management would be highly desirable.
