We are currently working with a local authority based in the HA & WD postal areas who are looking for an experienced Damp & Mould Surveyor to join their property services team.
Our client manages over 8,000 properties, delivering reactive repairs, void refurbishments and planned maintenance. They are looking for an experienced surveyor with extensive knowledge of diagnosing and managing damp, mould and condensation issues within occupied and void residential properties, with a strong understanding of Awaab''s Law and current social housing compliance requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out damp, mould and condensation surveys to occupied and void properties.
- Diagnose the root cause of damp and mould issues and produce detailed specifications for remedial works.
- Identify associated building defects and recommend appropriate repair solutions.
- Ensure cases are managed in line with Awaab''s Law, regulatory requirements and internal service standards.
- Prioritise high-risk cases, ensuring timely inspections and remedial works where tenant health and safety may be impacted.
- Monitor and coordinate contractors on site to ensure works are completed to the required standard and within agreed timescales.
- Ensure specifications are correctly adhered to and works are completed in line with current guidance and best practice.
- Keep administration systems, databases and relevant teams updated.
- Utilise NHF Schedule of Rates (SOR) where required.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Damp & Mould Surveyor within social housing or local authority.
- Strong knowledge of damp, mould and condensation diagnosis and remedial solutions.
- Good understanding of Awaab''s Law, the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and social housing compliance.
- Experience preparing specifications of works and managing contractors.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
This is an excellent long-term freelance opportunity working on behalf of a well-known Local Authority. The role will initially be for six months, with the potential for extension based on performance.
