Maintenance Operative
Our client, a well-established engineering organisation based in Darlington, is seeking an experienced and reliable Maintenance Operative to join their team on a part-time basis (24 hours per week) on a fixed-term contract until October 2027.This is an excellent opportunity for a practical, hands-on individual with facilities maintenance experience to play a key role in maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient working environment. The Role As Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance of the company''s offices, facilities, and grounds. Working closely with the QHSE and Facilities function, you will ensure the premises are maintained to a high standard while supporting health, safety, and environmental compliance. Key Responsibilities Carry out general building maintenance and minor repair work. Undertake basic plumbing, decorating, carpentry, and maintenance tasks. Replace lighting, sensors, and other building fixtures as required. Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of internal and external areas. Ensure car parks, walkways, and grounds remain free from hazards. Support winter maintenance activities, including snow and ice clearance. Conduct routine safety inspections and checks, including emergency lighting, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, refuge points, and disabled toilet alarms.
