About the Role

A Maintenance Operative is required to join a busy depot in Kilsyth, offering a full-time, temp-to-perm contract at £14.50 per hour. Working Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:30, and finishing at 15:30 on Fridays, you will undertake general repairs, refurbishment, and upkeep across the site. Duties include basic plumbing, joinery, decorating, and electrical tasks, alongside maintaining buildings, workshops, yards, drains, and signage. Supporting the wider team with safe unloading and depot operations is also key. This practical, hands-on position suits someone with varied maintenance skills seeking a stable, long-term role within a supportive environment.

Pertemps are recruiting for a Maintenance Operative to join a busy depot in Kilsyth.
This is a great opportunity for a practical, hands-on candidate looking for a varied role with the potential to become permanent.
You’ll help keep the depot, buildings, workshops and yard safe, well-maintained and operational, carrying out general maintenance and supporting the wider depot team.
Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out general maintenance, repairs and refurbishment across the depot
  • Undertake basic plumbing, joinery, decorating and electrical work
  • Maintain buildings, workshops, yard areas, drains, signage and utilities
  • Support the safe unloading, storage and positioning of materials
  • Operate plant and equipment where trained and authorised
  • Complete workplace risk assessments and follow health & safety procedures
  • Monitor skips, water usage and general depot facilities
  • Carry out weekly workshop fire alarm checks
  • Support and supervise contractors when required
  • Identify maintenance issues and arrange repairs where necessary
  • Complete other duties in line with training and competence
What we're looking for
  • Previous maintenance, facilities, construction or hands-on operative experience
  • Practical skills in plumbing, joinery, decorating or electrical work
  • Good understanding of health & safety
  • Reliable, organised and able to prioritise a varied workload
  • Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
  • Full/clean driving licence preferred
  • Slinger/signaller experience, CPCS qualifications or AP qualification advantageous
