The Opportunity
Due to continued investment and growth, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Electrically Biased-Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team.
This newly created position has been designed to support the transition from reactive maintenance towards a more proactive reliability-focused approach. You will play a key role in maximising equipment availability, reducing downtime and driving continuous improvement across a highly automated manufacturing facility.
Working closely with production, engineering and operational teams, you will be responsible for identifying recurring issues, implementing long-term solutions and improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
This is a hands-on engineering role with the opportunity to make a tangible impact on site performance and influence future maintenance strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance activities across a highly automated manufacturing facility
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and control system faults
- Support the improvement of equipment reliability, availability and performance
- Lead and contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) investigations to eliminate repeat failures
- Identify opportunities to improve OEE, reduce downtime and increase production efficiency
- Utilise CMMS systems and maintenance data to identify trends and implement corrective actions
- Support the development of proactive maintenance strategies and continuous improvement initiatives
- Fault find on PLC-controlled machinery, automation systems and robotic equipment
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation
- Work collaboratively with production teams to improve machine performance and minimise disruption
- Contribute to engineering projects, equipment upgrades and process improvements
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced Maintenance Engineer with an electrical bias, ideally gained within a high-volume manufacturing or automated production environment.
You will have:
- Electrically biased multi-skilled engineering experience
- Strong experience working with automated machinery, robotics and PLC-controlled systems
- Proven fault-finding ability across electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment
- A strong understanding of preventative maintenance and reliability improvement techniques
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and structured problem-solving
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Experience using CMMS systems and maintenance data to drive improvements
- A proactive approach with a genuine interest in improving processes and equipment performance
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering and production teams
Ideally, you will hold an HNC/HND qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or have equivalent practical experience.
