Role Overview

They are looking for a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to join the Engineering team and provide first-response support across a busy manufacturing operation.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills. You will respond to equipment breakdowns, carry out running repairs and planned maintenance, identify recurring issues and support improvements to equipment reliability.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line engineering response to equipment breakdowns across production.
• Diagnose, test, repair and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Carry out reactive maintenance and running repairs to minimise production downtime.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance and accurately update CMMS records.
• Service, adjust and repair machinery using safe engineering practices.
• Support production start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers and line optimisation.
• Carry out root cause analysis to prevent recurring equipment failures.
• Support the installation, upgrade and commissioning of new equipment.
• Work with OEMs and external suppliers to resolve technical issues.
• Support TPM, Operational Excellence and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Multi-skilled engineering background with both mechanical and electrical fault-finding capability.
• Previous experience within manufacturing, FMCG, plastics, packaging or another process environment.
• Strong fault diagnosis and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with equipment such as: Motors, Drives, Sensors, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Control systems
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Experience using a CMMS or computerised maintenance management system.
• Engineering apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification.

Desirable Experience

• PLC fault finding
• TPM or Continuous Improvement
• Equipment installation and commissioning
• HMI, SCADA, Fieldbus or Drives
