Company Overview

Our client is a well-established food manufacturing business with a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and investment in both people and equipment. Operating from a modern production facility, they supply a range of products to major customers across the UK and continue to invest in their engineering function to support future growth.

Due to continued expansion, they are now looking to recruit a Multi-Skilled Shift Engineer to join their engineering team.

Working within a fast-paced production environment, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities across a range of processing and packaging equipment.

This position would suit an engineer with strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding abilities who enjoys working autonomously while contributing to wider continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience with PLCs, inverters, and automated production equipment would be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond quickly and effectively to equipment breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving faults to minimise downtime.
  • Conduct both mechanical and electrical repairs on production machinery.
  • Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability projects.
  • Update maintenance records and ensure all work is accurately recorded within the CMMS system.
  • Work closely with production teams to maximise equipment availability and operational performance.
  • Assist with the installation, commissioning, and optimisation of new machinery and equipment.
  • Support and oversee external contractors when required.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with site procedures.
  • Contribute to maintaining high engineering and housekeeping standards across the facility.

Requirements

  • Recognised Engineering Qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical or Multi-Skilled Engineering.
  • Previous experience within a manufacturing, food production, FMCG, packaging, or automated production environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery and inverters would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems and maintenance planning software.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification is advantageous.
  • IPAF licence desirable (training can be provided if required).

What''s on Offer

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Opportunity to join a stable and growing manufacturing business.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • A varied and technically challenging engineering role within a modern production environment.
