Maintenance Engineer (Shift)
Job Title: Maintenance Engineer Location: Barnsley Employment Type: Full-Time The Opportunity: Our client, a well-established manufacturing business based in Barnsley, is looking to recruit a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their Maintenance team. This is a hands-on role providing technical support and maintenance services, ensuring machines and equipment operate efficiently and safely. The position operates on a continental shift pattern, 4 days on, 4 days off, consisting of two day shifts (6am 6pm) followed by two night shifts (6pm 6am). The role offers excellent exposure to mechanical and electrical systems, continuous improvement initiatives, and opportunities for professional development. Key Responsibilities: Carry out day-to-day project work, preventative maintenance, and reactive breakdown repairs Work alongside the technical team to understand the functions of all machines Perform mechanical tasks including drilling, tapping, using dies, files, bearings, ultrasonic welders, pneumatic cylinders, and gearboxes Operate workshop machinery such as surface grinders, lathes, millers, pillar drills, pedestal grinders, and hydraulic presses Read and interpret electrical schematic drawings (Spuhl, LPT, Koch, Friggerio) Understand different types of circuits and components, including 3-phase, single-phase, and 24v systems Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of maintenance processes Skills and Qualifications: GCSEs or equivalent Minimum Level 3 ..... full job details .....
