Maintenance Engineer
Pertemps are recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer on a 3-month fixed-term contract.
Pay Rate: £20 per hour
We are seeking a motivated and safety-conscious engineer with mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience to support the operation and maintenance of renewable energy equipment. This role plays a key part in ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant running of plant operations, helping to convert organic food waste into clean energy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical and PLC systems
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete reactive repairs to minimise downtime
- Maintain and support specialist equipment, including CHP units, Grid Entry Units and biogas compressors
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health, safety and environmental procedures
- Monitor operational performance, recording data relating to gas quality, temperature control and feedstock management
- Participate in on-call rota duties and remote monitoring activities when required
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the site
- Qualified in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or able to demonstrate equivalent engineering experience
- Proven maintenance engineering experience within an industrial, process, manufacturing or similar environment
- Knowledge of planned preventative maintenance systems
- Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivated, proactive and adaptable approach to work
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise workloads effectively
- Flexible and willing to work across a range of shift patterns to support operational requirements
- Full UK driving licence
- Knowledge of DSEAR and ATEX regulations
- Experience working with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
- COTC, IOSH, NEBOSH, confined space, working at height, first aid or banksman training
