Maintenance Engineer
Some engineering jobs are all firefighting.
This isn''t one of them.
You''ll be joining a well-established manufacturing site producing a long shelf-life product, where things are planned properly and engineering is given the time and support to do things right.
The site is busy, but it''s well organised. Production isn''t constantly in crisis, and you''re not walking into a situation where every breakdown is treated like the end of civilisation.
You''ll be part of a stable engineering team, working alongside supportive management and production colleagues who understand the value of good maintenance.
It''s the kind of environment where you can get on with the job, solve problems properly and make improvements rather than spending every shift chasing the latest emergency.
What''s in it for you?
-51,431.90 salary
26 days'' holiday + bank holidays
Option to buy an additional 5 days'' leave
Annual site bonus, paid in November
Annual salary review every April
Matched pension contributions of up to 10%
Free on-site parking
Established engineering team
Well-run manufacturing site
Lincoln commutable
The Role
As a Shift Engineer, you''ll be responsible for keeping production equipment running reliably and safely.
You''ll be working across both electrical and mechanical maintenance, with a good balance of planned work, fault finding and improvement activity.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planned preventative maintenance
Electrical and mechanical fault finding
Breakdown response and repair
Supporting continuous improvement projects
Working closely with production to maximise equipment reliability
Maintaining high standards of safety and engineering practice
Shift Pattern
You''ll work a 3-week rotating shift pattern:
Week 1: 6am-2pm, Monday-Friday
Week 2: 2pm-10pm, Monday-Thursday; 2pm-9pm Friday
Week 3: 10pm-6am, Monday-Thursday
What We''re Looking For
Engineering apprenticeship with NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent
Electrical or mechanical engineering background
Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, food, packaging or a similar environment
Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
PLC experience would be advantageous
A proactive engineer who takes pride in doing things properly
Why Consider It?
The real attraction here is the working environment.
This is a site where engineering matters. The product has a long shelf life, production is well planned and the operation isn''t constantly running from one crisis to the next.
That means you can actually maintain equipment properly, investigate recurring faults and make improvements, rather than simply resetting machines and waiting for the next breakdown.
The engineering team is stable, management are supportive and there''s a genuine focus on doing things properly.
If you''re looking for a well-paid shift engineering role where you can work in a professional, organised manufacturing environment without the constant drama, this is well worth a conversation.
