The Maintenance Engineer Role
Suttons Performance Packaging (part of Macfarlane`s Design and Manufacturing division) creates bespoke packaging solutions from our site in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire. We are seeking an experienced maintenance engineer to join the team. You will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of all plant and equipment at the Suttons site based in Chatteris. With a strong focus on proactively preventing equipment failures and enhancing performance, your aim will be to minimise unplanned downtime. You will also be required to maintain the current high standard of overall site facilities and play an active part in continuous improvement activities.
Maintenance Engineer - Key Responsibilities* Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on mechanical equipment, including presses, corrugate die cutters, corrugate printer slotter, gluers, band saws, boilers, pumps, sprinkler system, and all other site equipment.
* Respond promptly to emergency repair requests to minimise downtime.
* Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues efficiently, with help from electrician if required.
* Ability to identify parts, request quotes, control stock of spare parts, and communicate with suppliers.
* Plan, conduct and record PPM to ensure that equipment operates optimally and is reliable.
* Coordinate and supervise repairs, upgrades, and installations with contractors and external service providers, ensuring RAMS and associated permits to work are completed for the work to be executed safely.
* Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including purchase orders and PPM records.
* Provide technical support and guidance to other staff members as needed.
* Assist in planning and executing projects such as equipment upgrades and system enhancements.
* Stay refreshd on industry trends and advancements in relevant equipment to support the operational strategy.
* Apply a continuous improvement mindset to improve current processes and procedures.
* Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
* Ensure appropriate training is completed to maintain or enhance professional and technical skills.
* Ensuring good housekeeping and ensuring a safe working environment.
* Work in a constructive and collaborative manner, promoting co-operation between all departments.
* Generally, assist in the smooth running of the Suttons site, including opening and locking factory, as required.
