Maintenance Engineer Salary: £35,000 per annumHours: 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday to FridayLocation: Newcastle The Role We are currently recruiting for an experienced and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join a busy manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong maintenance professional with leadership experience to take responsibility for the reliability, safety and efficiency of plant machinery and equipment. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day maintenance activities, lead a team of technicians and drive preventative maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives across the site. Key Responsibilities Plan, coordinate and supervise maintenance activities across plant machinery and systems to minimise downtime. Lead and support a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training and supervision. Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules in line with manufacturer recommendations and operational requirements. Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical and automation faults using schematics, technical manuals and diagnostic equipment. Manage maintenance-related projects, including equipment upgrades, repairs and installations, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Oversee the use and optimisation of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) within automation and control systems.
