Role Overview
As a Maintenance Engineer, you''ll be responsible for the upkeep and servicing of all machinery and technical equipment on site, as well as overseeing the facilities and grounds. This is a hands-on role with a clear pathway to team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and maintain accurate records
- Conduct safety checks and ensure compliance with site procedures
- Respond swiftly to breakdowns to minimise downtime
- Install and commission new equipment
- Liaise with contractors and ensure safety protocols are followed
- Maintain spare parts inventory and procurement
- Fault-find and resolve electrical/mechanical issues
- Support continuous improvement and performance targets
- Adhere to lockout/tagout procedures
Qualifications & Requirements
- Completed apprenticeship in electrical or mechanical discipline
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Forklift licence (preferred but not essential)
Skills & Experience
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings
- Proven fault-finding skills across mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience in automotive manufacturing (desirable)
- Sewing machine maintenance experience (desirable)
- IT literate, especially with Microsoft Office
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills
- Experience in jig/tool design and manufacture (desirable)
- Minimum 5 years in a maintenance/facilities role (desirable)
- IPAF 3a/3b qualification (desirable)
