Maintenance Engineer

Our client manufacture machinery for the treatment and disposal of food waste, they are now looking to recruit a Moble Maintenance Engineer.
Home based and reporting to tje Engineering Manager Manager, the Maintenance Engineer will:be:responsible for the planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance of waste disposal and recycling machinery, ensuring maximum operational efficiency, minimal downtime, and compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilitie
Maintenance & Repairs

Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on all waste disposal and recycling equipment, including conveyors, shredders, compactors, balers, and sorting systems.

Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and complete effective repairs to minimise downtime.

Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, adjustments, and component replacements as required.

Equipment & Systems

Work with hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems.

Ensure equipment is calibrated, tested, and operating to manufacturer specifications.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and update asset management systems.

Continuous Improvement

Support process improvements to increase equipment reliability and efficiency.

Provide technical input into equipment upgrades and replacement projects.

Assist in training operators on correct use and basic maintenance of machinery.

Skills & Experience
-
Essential:
-
Proven experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance, ideally within waste management, recycling, or heavy industrial environments.

Competence in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical faults.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.

Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.

Understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Desirable:
-
Electrical qualifications (e.g., 18th Edition, NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering).

Welding and fabrication experience.

Experience with PLC-controlled systems.
Qualifications:

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.

Health & Safety training (e.g., IOSH, SPA Passport) preferred.
